GUIDED SOUND MEDITATION APP

GUIDED SOUND MEDITATION APP

Building an app for guided sound meditation.

Overview

We collaborated with a leading meditation master to design a sound-meditation app that visually enhances the meditative experience without overshadowing the practice.

Research-Driven Foundations

  • Exploratory Research on Sound–Color Dynamics: We investigated how different colors could resonate with specific meditative sounds to amplify relaxation.

  • Collaborative Testing with Experts: Working closely with meditation teachers, we tested each sound-track pairing in generative prototypes (built with Processing) to validate emotional and aesthetic alignment. Behance+5blankandco.com+5blankandco.com+5

  • Usability Prototyping: Early-stage interactive prototypes (via Proto.io) were used to gather real-time feedback from both teachers and users, uncovering UX gaps and refining flow. blankandco.com

Insights-Driven Design Adjustments

  • Shift from Generative to Art-Directed Color System: Though generative prototypes were illuminating, they didn’t always reflect the intended mood. We pivoted to a curated, art-directed palette that accurately matched each meditation’s tone. blankandco.com+1blankandco.com+1

  • Design System & Visual Consistency: We built a cohesive UI using color-coded meditation themes, ensuring each session had a calming, intuitive aesthetic.

  • Prototype Iteration & Testing: Continuous testing allowed us to identify and resolve interaction issues early—focusing on clarity and emotional impact.

Deliverables & Outcomes

  • Visual Design System: A thoughtfully curated, color-themed design system tied to specific meditation experiences.

  • Mid-Fidelity Prototypes: Interactive screens tested for flow, accessibility, and emotional tone.

  • Product-Ready Prototype: Engineers received research-informed designs demonstrating effective sound‑color matching and intuitive UX.
